Sick Of Feeling Crappy? Here Are Five Rules To Finding Happy!

I have had several friends say they are not happy and that they do not know how to find happiness. I do not in any way shape or form profess to be the happiness coach, nor do I have all the cures for finding your own happiness; however, I would like to share to a few things I have learned over my own years of searching for happiness.

RULE# 1
Happiness comes from within
For years I went back to a relationship thinking I could not be “happy” without him or the relationship. I could not be alone. I went back trying to love and be loved, however I was only putting myself through a personal hell.

I let the relationship define me and my reason for being.

After my divorce I found that I didn’t even know who “I” was. I had been too busy trying to find happiness in someone else, that I had lost myself. I had to rediscover and find who I was.

RULE# 2

Happiness quotes
A year later I realized that my unhappiness wasn’t because of the lack of having someone in my life. I had to find happiness within, because if I was not happy now how was I ever going to he be happy in a relationship?

RULE# 3

Happiness quotes

Letting someone else be your source of happiness is self-destructive. You have to learn to like, love and respect yourself before anyone else.

Question:
How long do you find yourself happy when you allow your happiness to be driven by another person? A couple of weeks or months, and then what?

Then you believe this person must not be the “one” because they no longer make “you” happy….. when in reality you set this relationship up to fail because you were searching for someone/anyone to fulfill your void.

We have all been taught that to love someone is to sacrifice yourself for their happiness and in return we expect them to do the same for us. However, by sacrificing our happiness we are only becoming miserable. We alone are responsible for our happiness.

RULE# 4

Self acceptance key to happiness

Start by making yourself the priority and no-one else. Find yourself, and enjoy being you.

Now this doesn’t mean you have to cut everyone out of your life, but that you should allow yourself to be the priority.

RULE# 5

The only person you cannot live without and have unconditional love for is YOU! Everyone else is a bonus. Once you start to love yourself and instead of leaving your happiness dependent upon others, the right people will fall into place.

Uneducated Enthusiasm

“Deception has many forms. Just because it appears to be right,  doesn’t mean that it is not wrong.

We are all guilty at some point of becoming overly excited about something or someone when we have not obtained all of the facts. From jobs to relationships or anything new, we get excited.

When we encounter new people or situations in our life, it may appear to be total perfection. Perhaps it all seems to fit so well. It may seem to be exactly what we have waited for or what we need at the time.

When we get excited like that it is time to search for the facts, and just slow down the pace. If we do not, we are merely suffering from uneducated enthusiasm.

We can not rush into decisions because when we do, we are often headed for a disaster. It is far more important to make decisions slowly and with wisdom, than to do it in a rush and have the relationship or situation end in total disgust.

ABC’s of Life Series — Day 3 Letter C ; Cherish Every Breath You Take

ABC’s of Life Series

From A – Z

Day 3, Letter C

Cherish Every Breath You Take

“Life can end or be forever changed in a millisecond. It is important that we live it to the fullest and not take it for granted. We must find our purpose, and fulfill it.”

I learned at an early age the stages of grief by the loss of loved ones. By the age of 20, I had been to more funerals than years I had been alive. The trend continued well into my thirties. From friends, to co-workers, family members, and classmates it didn’t take long to realize; the shortness of life. One minute we are here, and the next we are gone forever.

Signs that a person is cherishing every breath:

– They treat others as though it was the last time they will see them, every time that they see them.

– When they are in the wrong, they apologize.

– They find themselves thankful for all things, both good and bad.

– They dream big and follow through.

– They live the best life they know how to live.

– They begin to build new bridges once they cross them instead of burning bridges that they may need to cross again someday.

– They focus on the big picture, and try hard not to get caught up in the minuet details.

– They make sure they have left no stones unturned.

– They accept the past and build towards the future.

– They live as best they can to have no regrets.

– When they are present, people notice.

– They give life all they have.

What matters the most in the end is that our spirits are free enough from any baggage, to enter into the after-life. Otherwise, we are just another episode of ghost hunters. Who wants to be another lost and broken spirit wandering the earth after death; due to unresolved business? Surely, not me.

As for me personally, I want to make peace with people while I am here and live the best possible life that I can. It is the only way to rest in peace, when our time here has expired.

One Year Wiser

Twas' a happy birthday. I awoke to gifts wrapped in newspaper by my six-year-old. It was the sweetest thing. She wrapped every piece of jewelry she could find. The jewelry had been given to her in a bag of hand me down clothes from our neighbor. Absolutely adorable! I love my kids, they make me smile.

The age of 34 arrived yesterday, an age that once seemed really old to me. Instead, I’m a bit relieved. As I sat on the front steps last night I thought “It was my 30th birthday that I had my awakening and decided to no longer be married to an alcoholic. And after some  long, dark, and winding roads I have arrived safely at 34. It took four years, but here I am. Much happier, much stronger, and much wiser.”

They say a wise man never wishes to be younger, and I would have to agree with whomever spoke such words of wisdom. I wouldn’t take myself back in time to learn these same lessons. I wouldn’t trade what I know now,  for what I only thought I knew then. Instead, I will remain thankful to have a brain capable of learning, and health that will take me til tomorrow; and hopefully many years to come. So long as God allows these hands to type or this mouth to speak, I will continue to share the lessons.

“Cheers to 34, and being halfway to 68.

Every day that we are blessed with life,

is reason to celebrate.”

A Harmonious Environment

Home is where the heart is and the place where we hang our hats. It should be a place with an abundance of love, and an environment that is harmonious. Without a harmonious environment, carrying out life’s successes will be a challenge.

If we continue to live in dysfunction, we will find ourselves completely dysfunctional over time. We must create an environment where we not only function properly, but where we thrive. It should be a place where we are at our absolute best in both mind and spirit.

Today:

Take control of your environment. Make it as happy as you want it to be. In doing so, you will find yourself more capable of achieving your dreams than ever before. It is all an arms reach away.

Day 2 – Inner Wisdom

Today’s mission; Take time to listen to your inner wisdom.

Sometimes  it becomes so loud with the opinions of others that we find it hard to hear our inner voice . Today, take time to listen to your inner wisdom. Our instincts are there to guide us, if we let them.

Day 1 To a Happier You

Day 1

We all get caught up in what “has been”, so for today; lets focus on what “will be.”

As we go about our day today; lets speak only of the current day or the days that lie ahead. Lets claim with our voice and our heart, all of the positive things that will occur from here on out. As we begin to project that positive energy towards those things, we will find that our mood has improved. When this happens, our happiness tank is beginning to fill up. So, lets keep filling it up!

Anything in the world can be ours if we claim it.  Lets start claiming more positive things today!

Smile, it really does make people wonder!

A person entered my life over the last few years, an employer, that I developed a unique friendship with. Nobody could stand him, at work, or in town. He ran everyone away with his negativity, well, just about everyone. Some would still come in to get free beer, or food. And a select few of us, simply needed a job.

For me, I kinda felt bad for him. He was the first person in my life with an abundance of negative energy, that didn’t weigh me down. He would sit, and stew, and complain all day. To workers, to customers, about workers, about customers, etc. I would work 13 days straight at times, open to close shifts, and for some reason his consistent complaining didn’t bother me. He reduced every employee to tears with his rages, but somehow, never me. My goal everyday, was to make him smile or laugh.

I filled the room with smiles. I was so happy to be working, that I had a home for my kids, we were all healthy, that I broke free from some of the most controlling people Id met in my life, and that I had my independence. The list could go on for some time. I  felt on top of the world.

Often he would curse and say “Why are you always  so f***ing happy?” My answers would vary from time to time, but often I would say “Because I know it pisses you off” and he would smile, scratch his head, and walk away. When he came back around a few minutes later he would just look at me shaking his head, with a smirk on his face.

When we let go of criticism & overlook flaws in other people, we are then capable of connecting with feelings that border on bliss. When we realize that everyone has all the same tools, and that some aren’t just capable of using them all the same way, we are then able to see positive things in our own life.

When positive things are felt, seen, or heard we find ourselves smiling. And it can be contagious! Lets infect the world with our smiles, and while doing that, the disgruntled people will just have to continue wondering what we are up to. Maybe they will crave it eventually, and begin to smile too.
