Are You Embracing Life’s Storms?

I was out storm chasing a few months ago and I captured a beautiful photo, as well as some insight to share with it.

We can’t let the storms of life zap us. When lightning crashes it brings light. When rain pours it allows nourishment for more growth. When the wind blows strong, it is to see how well we are planted.

There really is beauty in all those storms. There’s no need to be afraid. These storms only come to promote necessary changes. Embrace it, and welcome it. The sun will be shining brighter than ever before when it finally passes!

Faith Adds Color To Darkness

Claiming Our Past

“If we don’t claim our past it will claim our future. It is not possible to know where we are going, if we can’t admit the places we have been.”

I have seen countless situations where people deny their past. They deny what they have done, or what has been done to them. They deny their experiences. Their fear of admitting mistakes or failures enables them  to continue in their negative cycle. Simply put, it cripples them and they can not grow as a person. Instead they keep making the same mistakes, again and again.

By denying our past experiences we set ourselves up to fail.  If we can’t admit where we have been or screwed up in life, how could we even begin to correct it? By hiding it or denying the experiences we are merely doing a patch job. As we know, patches only hold so long.

By laying it all out there and owning every experience: nobody has anything over us. We can walk in peace, with no secrets. We live in light  instead of darkness.

There is nobody worth keeping secrets. We are worth more than that. By owning our past and our experiences we begin to walk in truth. We can then break the negative cycles and patterns; and begin to experience peace and happiness.

We have to own our experiences, and learn from them. It is the only way to level up in the game of life. If we can’t admit them, how can we ever truly recognize what needs changed?

ABC’s of Life Series — Day 8 Letter H : Help Others See The Light

ABC’s of Life

Day 8 Letter H

Help Others See The Light

Now that we have tackled the concept of allowing others grace to grow; we naturally begin to help others see the light. Because we have given them grace they will seek us out time and time again in times of trouble. They will return because we offer acceptance.

When others feel our acceptance of them despite where they are in their life journey; they will then begin to see and feel our love. When they feel our love, they will begin to see the light. Once they see the light, the chains that bind them are finally broken.

There are multiple ways that we can help others see light in particular situations. It could be by handing them a tract or brochure, referring them to someone else that can relate better, suggesting a particular song or movie, or by simply being a light ourselves: through conversation or by setting an example with our own lives.

To some people we are merely a match flame.

To some a candle or lantern.

To others we may be the sun.

We all shed light.

In some way.

And light affects everyone.

Recovering From Lies In relationships

When we are in a relationship that has experienced betrayal; recovering from that betrayal can be quite a challenge. The severity of the betrayal will play a huge part in the recovery process. Is this person sorry? How do we know if a person is truly sorry? Most importantly, will they do it again?

There are ways to recover if the person who has deceived you is ready. The unfortunate part is that the recovery is some-what dependent on the other person’s ability to face themselves and be honest. They must want a change for a change to even be an option. They must lay all of the truth on the table.

Although recovery for the liar begins by their purging of information, they have to tell everything as though they have entered a confession booth. If you feel like there is more to the story you are probably right. So make sure you follow the proper steps when confronting a liar.

(Click here for more about confronting liars)

If they don’t want to stop their behavior we are simply beating a dead horse and it is no longer worth our time trying. The best way we can recover is to let go of the person. It would be too difficult to maintain respect for ourselves if we surround ourselves with people who do not respect us.

If the truth is not fully revealed; there will always be problems. And at that point we must walk away. It is the only way to make a full recovery and let the past be the past. It is also the only way to keep something from replaying in your head constantly.

If Heaven Is All Around Us, Is Hell Right In Front Of Us?

As I left a local eatery after having had lunch with my sister, I pondered our many conversations throughout the rest of the day. Her and I typically have deep and thought-provoking conversations, and this was another one to add to the mix. The conversation that stood out the most was our discussion of personal strengths and weaknesses.

Our greatest strengths in life can also be our greatest weaknesses. Without balance of both, we will find ourselves living in chaos.

As night fell I thought it would be great to try to capture some pictures of lightning crashing on the fairway. I gathered up some things and went outside in hopes for storm pictures. Unfortunately the storm never came to where I was, but something more amazing appeared to the camera and to me as I began to photograph the moon. It was something that couldn’t be seen with the naked eye.

The first picture appeared normal and beautiful,

with only clouds and the moon.

The photographs became more amazing as I continued to shoot.

The moon is still in the clouds,

however there is a giant Orb floating above it.

As you can see, it is pretty good size.

In this photo the clouds covered the moon to make a heart.

This photo is unexplainable. I was not moving,

so  it’s not an issue of movement or blurring.

The houses are clear and stationary in both corners of the picture.

In this photo the moon grew longer. Again, houses are stationary. It reminded me of the serpent’s tail and provoked deep thoughts from within me.

If our greatest strengths are also our greatest weaknesses; Could it be possible that the same object  that gives us life, light and energy is also what the bible refers to as the fires of hell?

Is it possible that people have wondered for centuries where hell is, and it has been right in front of us all along?  Often times in life when we are searching the hardest for something, we find that it was right under our nose the entire time. And if heaven is all around us as generations in the past have said, then wouldn’t it make sense for hell to be right in front of us?

Speed

We have measured the speed of light

We have measured the speed of sound

The measurement of darkness is so quick

It leaves us breathless on the ground.

We measure the speed of love

All speeds of which are real

This new love in my life

Has really made me feel

At any speed, love is still love

And my love to you I give

So glad we didn’t let measurements interfere

Baby, it’s time to live!

Walking In Other People’s Shadows

I remember having my children outside in their younger years as they began to walk. All three of them, at a young ages, were afraid of shadows. It didn’t matter if it was yours, mine, or theirs, they were afraid. As the sun beat down allowing their shadows to appear, they ran. And they cried! They tried so hard to get away from any  shadows, yet the shadows still remained. Shadows would inevitably follow them wherever they went. As long as there was light, there would be a shadow.

Recently, a close friend of mine, stated that she felt as though she were walking in my shadow. She is only steps away from beginning the difficult journey of single parenting.  She watches me, she listens to my cares and worries, and she asks my advice. I tell her the truth, the cold hard truth, it’s not a decision to make without knowing the reality of being a single parent.

When pondering her comment “I feel like I’m walking in your shadow” I realized, shadows aren’t a bad thing. It’s the sun’s way of letting us know what is really there. It is reflection of us, who we are, where we are going, and what we are doing. They can serve as a guide for the weary of heart, and motivation for others to create their own shadow, instead of walking in someone elses. If there were never a shadow for us to walk in at some point in our life, our fear would consistently bind us.

A shadow, is just another way to see the sun.
